Schools across the country will remain closed for six days starting today (Wednesday).
The government had decided to give only one day off on the day of polling. Teachers are on leave from today as they have to work at polling stations and go to polling stations outside the district.
President of the Teachers Federation Kamala Tuladhar informed that all the schools will be closed from today.
“More than half of the schools have polling stations,” she said. The teachers of the remaining schools have to go to their districts to cast their votes and some of them have to go to the polling booths.”
Currently, there are about 35,000 including 27,000 community schools and 8,000 private schools in the country.
The government has already decided to close the polling stations for three days from May 11 to 13.
May 14 is Saturday and Monday is Buddha Jayanti. Similarly, Sunday is also a holiday as per the government’s decision to give two days’ holiday a week (Saturday and Sunday) from May 15.
